I don’t remember a time when I didn’t write, read, and make things. Right now, I’m writing the biography of American writer Elizabeth Shepley Sergeant and continuing to publish critical essays on Willa Cather’s fiction. I write poems and prose fragments. I read in support of my writing projects and I read and reread old and new fiction. I make things by sewing, carpentering, cooking, and digging in the dirt. These are also things I like to read and write about, and I do them as a feminist, with some sense of irony.
